Our story
I've followed Jesus for years, but I've never been comfortable talking about Him. Most of the time I don't know what to say, or what to do.
For 28 years, my wife, Nancy, and I have run businesses that serve children and families. They're our ministry: we teach Christian values and try to let our faith show in how we work and what we say. But we don't talk about Jesus there by name, so families of every background feel welcome.
Then, on a trip celebrating our anniversary, God put something on my heart. It was time to put my faith into action. To activate it.
The word activate kept coming back. I started spelling it the way you would on a license plate. ACT. The I as a 1. V. “Ate” as an 8.
ACT1V8. Acts 1:8.
So I looked it up. Just before Jesus returns to heaven, He tells His followers, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses… to the ends of the earth.” That was no coincidence. It was exactly what I was trying to do.
And I thought: if I don't know what to say or do, a lot of other people don't either.
So I said yes, and Nancy said yes right alongside me. ACT1V8 is what grew from that: simple, everyday ways to put your faith into action, even when you don't have the words. If that's you, you're in good company.
